Incoming calls are an important part of every business and we can spend a lot of time on the phone. There are people calling with whom we do not want to spend too much time exchanging greetings and banalities before they come to the point.
When you receive such unexpected phone calls you can start the conversation by telling your counterpart that you only have 20 minutes or so because you need to attend a meeting or join a teleconference. This will generally force them to immediately get to the objective of the call.
